Lauren Samuels who came third in the search for Dorothy, Over The Rainbow landed the part of Sandy in Grease at the Picadilly theatre in London’s West End. She started last month after only three weeks rehearsals to get up to speed with the cast, and is contracted to star in Grease for six months altogether, after which time Lauren will probably want to further her career by playing a different type of role, possibly still in the West End though.
The role of Sandy wasn’t too much of a leap of imagination for Lauren Samuels, after having dressed up in the iconic black body stocking and blonde wig for Danielle Hope’s birthday in the Dorothy house during the filming of Over the Rainbow.
According to Lauren Samuels on twitter, Grease has been going down really well with audiences since she took over, so that has been a relief for here although she did have one night when she forgot one of her lines, which can easily happen after the initial nerves of the first few nights have worn off and there is a small danger of complacency setting in. Lauren quickly learned her lesson, being the most professional from amongst her tightly knit tribe of contenders who all still keep in touch with each other.
Grease is the Original High School musical made famous by the film with Oliver Newton John in the part that Lauren Samuels is now playing on the London stage.
